Vino di Anna, 'Sfuso di Anna'
A juicy, easy-drinking blend of red and white grapes, best enjoyed young and chilled. Bursting with dark cherry, plum, spice, and floral notes on the nose, it follows through on the palate with volcanic minerality, fine savoury tannins, and a lingering finish of cherry and cardamom. Fermented in Georgian qvevris in a historic palmento, then aged in large chestnut and oak casks. Bottled unfiltered, unfined, with minimal added sulphur.
'Sfuso di Anna' nods to Etna’s long-standing tradition of sfuso—bulk wine sold on tap—reimagined to prove that organic, high-quality Etna wine can still be accessible.
Winemakers Anna Martens and Eric Narioo made their first Etna vintage in 2008, later restoring an abandoned vineyard and palmento in 2010. Today, with a local team, they tend 8 hectares of terraced vines and olive groves on the volcano’s north face. Grapes are hand-harvested, fermentation is spontaneous, and ageing happens in a mix of traditional and natural vessels—from lava stone and chestnut to qvevri and stainless steel. The result is pure, terroir-driven wine, made with minimal intervention and maximum respect for the land.
