Sophie Evans Pinot Pinot

A wonderfully light and energetic English red sitting somewhere between a pale red and a dark rosé. Bright, crunchy red berries lead the way, with a distinctive smoky, almost mezcal-like edge, fresh acidity and a subtle mineral finish. Delicate and incredibly refreshing, but with enough savoury character to make it much more interesting than your average light Pinot.

Sophie Evans is one of the exciting new voices in English natural wine. After studying winemaking in the UK, she spent time working with Melanie and Michael Voelker of 2Naturkinder in Germany before returning home in 2022 to take over a small vineyard in Kent. She farms her vines by hand, using herbal teas, ferments and essential oils alongside biodynamic practices, and takes an intuitive, low-intervention approach in the cellar. Production is tiny, with wines made using native yeasts, minimal sulphur and plenty of hands-on attention. Sustainability runs throughout the project too, right down to bottling her wines in second-use bottles and reusing cardboard packaging.
