Neither raw nor cooked. An elegant Beaujolais laden with brambly fruits, gorgeous cherry and raspberry flavors that are complemented but Gamay's telltale peppery nuance. The finish is long, the superfine tannins leave behind subtle floral and licorice notes. Can be served slightly chilled.
Romuald Valot makes this gamay from old vines parcels in both Brouilly and Côte de Brouilly. He farms his land without chemicals and uses a plow to turn the soil. Whilst his approach to farming might be radical, the wines are anything but. Vibrant, fragrant, and nuanced, they are an exercise in purity and thrillingly unique.
