Plenty of herbal aromas like thyme, lavender and tomato leaf on the nose, whilst the palate presents more fruitiness. Think strawberry, cranberry, and a touch of watermelon. Fine bubbles and a subtly grippy texture.
Jurgen Gouws, the producer behind Intellego Wines, is part of the new wave of winemakers in South Africa's Swartland region, with a philosophy of natural and sustainable production. He aims to create fresh and drinkable wines without heavy extraction of new oak barrels, and his fun and informal bottles and labels reflect his goal of making wines that are approachable and accessible to everyone. Jurgen's true passion lies in hands-on vineyard work, and he strives to create optimum soil conditions through organic practices to express the unique character of each vineyard block and grape.
Sybille is a ship that became stranded opposite Jurgen’s grandmother’s farm, where she lived for 57 years, on the West Coast of South Africa. This pét-nat is a tribute to her, as she passed away in the same week the first vintage was harvested.
