Niepoort, LBV Port

The colour is concentrated with a ruby hue and violet tinges. On the nose, black chocolate notes stand out, complemented by aromas of wild fruits, fresh figs, violet, and spices. On the palate, it is structured, firm, and with an acidity that sets it apart from other houses. It starts sweet and finishes almost dry, long, fresh, and spicy. 

Niepoort LBV is a full-bodied red Port that is made from a selection of wines from a single vintage. It is aged for 4 to 6 years in large wooden vats to achieve a round and mature character. This extended ageing period allows the LBV to be enjoyed soon after bottling.

Niepoort, founded in 1842 and now run by fifth-generation siblings Dirk and Verena, has grown from a small, insider-favoured Port house into one of the Douro’s most respected names. The estate blends tradition with innovation, expanding into dry, natural wines across the Douro, Bairrada, and Dão. Dirk Niepoort’s commitment to biodynamics, minimal intervention, and a deep understanding of terroir guides their work. Many vineyards are now organically certified, and after more than 150 years of doing things differently, Niepoort is recognised for both exceptional Ports and expressive, characterful table wines.
