Intellego Wines Kedungu Red Blend
A revisited, classic French blend (think Rhone) but more refreshing and easy drinking. Lots of berry and floral aromas, with an earthy and spicy finish. Whole bunch fermented under semi-carbonic conditions for 8 days in stainless steel tanks. Aged in a mixture of different size old barrels which help preserve the vibrant flavours.
Jurgen Gouws, the producer behind Intellego Wines, is part of the new wave of winemakers in South Africa's Swartland region, with a philosophy of natural and sustainable production. He aims to create fresh and drinkable wines without heavy extraction of new oak barrels, and his fun and informal bottles and labels reflect his goal of making wines that are approachable and accessible to everyone. Jurgen's true passion lies in hands-on vineyard work, and he strives to create optimum soil conditions through organic practices to express the unique character of each vineyard block and grape.
