As the weather (finally) warms, and the Easter holidays approach, it's the perfect time to indulge in some springtime feasting with our selection of delicious wines. This month’s case features a range of wines that pair beautifully with the fresh and vibrant flavours of the season. Whether you’re planning festivities or simply looking to enjoy some lovely wine, these are sure to go down a treat.
First up is Le Lesc Rouge, an easy-drinking blend containing Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon with crunchy tannins and notes of cherry skin and white pepper. The Adaras is a Spanish blend with a smooth palate and notes of dark fruit, with a hint of spice on the finish. Both these wines would pair wonderfully with heartier meat dishes, such as roast lamb. Another good pairing for this style of dish would be a classic Chianti, this one having dark cherry flavours and notes of tobacco on the finish. We also have some lighter options this month, in tune with the change in the season.The Backhouse Pinot Noir has bright red fruit notes, such as raspberry and plum, with a silky finish. You’ll also receive another Spanish wine, made from indigenous grape Moristel. This has a lively and fruity palate, with flavours of cranberry and redcurrant. Finally, the Dao Tinto is a Portuguese red blend made from indigenous grapes: a bold and medium-bodied wine with flavours of dark fruits, leather and tobacco, but with a refreshing acidity to counteract the bold flavours. This beautifully balanced wine is a versatile tool for pairing with food, and will go with a range of Spring dishes.
