Bursts with aromas of dark cherry, plum, crushed flowers, and gentle spice. On the palate, it’s lively and textured, showing fresh red fruit, fine savoury tannins, and a distinct volcanic minerality. There’s a subtle earthiness, followed by a long finish of cherry and cardamom. Light-bodied and unfiltered, it’s the perfect bottle for lovers of chillable reds with a natural edge.
About Vino di Anna
Vino di Anna is a small family-run winery founded by Anna Martens and Eric Narioo, located on the north face of Mount Etna. Since their first vintage in 2008, they’ve focused on low-intervention winemaking, restoring old vineyards and traditional techniques like fermenting in Georgian qvevri and aging in chestnut barrels. Their wines are certified organic, made with native Sicilian grapes, and always bottled with minimal sulphur and maximum respect for the land.
About Sicilian wines
Sicilian wine is known for its incredible diversity, from bold reds to fresh whites, and everything in between. The volcanic soils of Etna bring a unique minerality and lift, especially in wines made from Nerello Mascalese, the island’s signature red grape. Sicilian red wines like this one tend to be light, aromatic, and earthy — a world away from the heavier Italian reds of the mainland.
How to pair it
Chill it down slightly and pour alongside charcuterie, grilled mushrooms, or pasta with creamy sauces. It’s great with tomato-based dishes too, or as a chilled aperitif on a warm evening. Serve in a big glass and let it open up: it’s casual, complex, and made for sharing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is organic red wine better for you?
Organic red wine is made from grapes grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers, which some drinkers prefer for environmental or health reasons. While it's not automatically “healthier,” it often contains fewer additives and is typically lower in sulphites.
What is special about Sicilian wine?
Sicilian wines are shaped by volcanic soils, sea breezes, and native grapes like Nerello Mascalese and Carricante. They’re often lively, mineral-driven, and naturally made, especially in regions like Etna.
What makes Italian red wine unique?
Italian red wines are known for their strong regional identity. From light reds like Etna Rosso to bold Barolos or Chianti, they often feature native grape varieties, food-friendly acidity, and a deep connection to tradition.
What kind of wine is Nerello Mascalese?
Nerello Mascalese is a red grape native to Sicily, especially Mount Etna. It produces light to medium-bodied reds with high acidity, red fruit, earthiness, and a savoury edge, often compared to Pinot Noir or Nebbiolo.
Can red wine be served chilled?
Yes! Chilled red wine, especially lighter, low-tannin styles like natural red wines or those made from Nerello Mascalese, is incredibly refreshing. Chill it for 20–30 minutes in the fridge and enjoy it slightly cool, not ice cold.
