Weingut Julg, Spatburgunder, Pfalz

Garnet as the crystal. Youthful in appearance as well as taste despite the years in the bottle. Lively acidity and red fruits. Lots of cherries and red currants with just a hint of pie crust. There's also some savoury bits towards the finish.

The estate lies in the Pfalz on the northern border of Alsace, with vineyards straddling both countries.
With number of high profile apprenticeships under his belt, Johannes’  father Werner handed over the reins almost immediately on his return in 2012. The jump in quality was immediate and astounding. The wines are pure and elegant, with forward fruit, depth and considerable finesse. This is an estate on the rise.
