ORGANIC / NO ADDED SULPHITES / VEGAN / NATURAL

This cloudy Riesling has aromas of white orchard fruit, and a hint of nuttiness. Juicy quince notes come through on the palate, with drops of citrus and long vibrant mineral finish from 9 months in large oak on the lees. Light bodied but full flavoured, with great acidity and balance. A must try for natural Riesling fans.

This wine is produced as a part of a great global initiative. Drinking-Against-Sinking. Design to help distributors, local restaurants, bars and wine shops. The participating winemakers use the #drinkingagainstsinking label on their wines. The earnings will be given to industry members in need.

ORGANIC / VEGAN

The exact proportion of the blend is a mystery, as the producer allowed it to evolve naturally. A lush, tropical blend, opening up myriad flavours like nectarine, lychee, tropical fruit and citrus. Spicy and floral on the nose, with a soft rounded sweetness on the palate. Smooth and layered, it finishes clean and crisp. Exceptionally food friendly wine: it will match especially well with spice and heat.

Jumpin Juice Riesling, Patrick Sullivan
Jumpin Juice Riesling, Patrick Sullivan

ORGANIC (UNCERTIFIED) / BIODYNAMIC (UNCERTIFIED) / VEGAN / LOW SULPHITES

A deceptively goofy label for a serious Riesling. Unlike most of the other Jumpin' Juice offerings, which are generally fun, whimsical wines without much loyalty to traditional styles, this Riesling is for those who adore the classics, but want something with almost no intervention. Austere and loaded with minerals, this is mouth-puckering with green fruited acidity, silky from some malolactic fermentation, and refreshing on the crisp finish.

Jumpin' Juice is a pet project between Patrick Sullivan and Xavier Goodridge, two long time mates who also both now happen to be natural wine makers in Gippsland, Victoria. They each developed a cult following in their own right, and so the Jumpin' Juice project is for fans of either or both. They're fun and funky wines to be drunk right now, without worrying about ageing potential or any seriousness of the industry.

Vintage: 2018
Grape variety: Riesling
Food pairing: Seafood, SE Asian food, curry, salads, Mexican food, or on its own

La Blanca, Krasna Hora

BIODYNAMIC / ORGANIC (UNCERTIFIED)

A bright field blend, with gorgeous texture and fruit. The Riesling comes through quite a bit in the mix, with fresh green fruit and good acidity levels to balance the florals and body from the other grapes. Light levels of skin contact on some of the grapes, oak ageing for others, for that silky textured feel. Fairly low alcohol, so great any time.

The Krasna Hora winery sits close to the Slovakian border on sloping mountains, where the vineyards were founded by Cistercian monks in the 1200s. Classic French varieties have been growing there ever since, and the Krasna Hora team are careful not to use any herbicides or chemical agents. They stick closely to biodynamic principles, and work hard to allow the whole ecosystem of the land thrive.

LOW INTERVENTION / ORGANIC (UNCERTIFIED) / VEGAN
Gorgeous thirst quenching Riesling, super refreshing, a modern style of German Trocken. Punches well above its weight, excellent value. A kiss of green fruit in this otherwise mineral-rich white.

Peter Lauer is a third-generation family business, started in 1913 and continued today by Peter's grandson Florian Lauer. Florian has more of a 'natural', non-interventionist approach in the cellar than his predecessors. Wines undergo a long, cool fermentation with ambient yeasts. This wine is filtered, but none are fined – Lauer's wines are proudly vegan, using none of the animal products typical in fining.

Scheurebe is an undervalued German cross created in 1916 between Riesling and a mystery grape. It is dry and tingly, with good acidity and powerful aromas of apricot, lime and gooseberry. It’s a jump-out-of-the-glass-and-whack-you-round-the-face sort of wine.
The Bauer brothers have called this "Scheu aber geil", or in English "shy but horny". Scheurebe might be shy but... You get the picture. Enjoy.
Origin: Pfalz, Germany
Vintage: 2019
Grape variety: Scheurebe
Food pairing: Will stand up well to flavourful dishes, anchovies, Asian dishes, goat cheese

ORGANIC/NO ADDED SULPHITES/VEGAN
This complex German blend has a few hours of skin contact (apart from the few days that the Muscat gets), giving it even more texture and body. It smells funky and fruity, but the grey slate it's grown on ensures that it is tangy and bright. It's unfiltered and unfined, from an estate that has been around since (at least) 862 AD. The same family has run it since they purchased it from Napolean's government in 1805, and they've been moving towards more sustainability and natural practice since 2010.

Origin: Mosel, Germany
Vintage: 2019
Grape Variety: Riesling (60%), Sauvignon Blanc (25%), Muller Thurgau (12%), Muscat (3%)
Food Pairings: Sweet/spicy dishes; casseroles or pies
