Delicious dried and ripe dark cherries on the nose, with a touch of prune and a ripe, sweet core. There is definite complexity with savoury aromas of earth, cedar, spices, and a warming meatiness and leather. The palate mirrors this but shows great balances with the fruit, and the prunes and warm earth are particularly prominent. The ripe tannins provide great structure, but are softly textured and are in perfect balance with the bright acidity. The finish is lovely and long and leaves you gasping for another sip.

Ramon Jane's family has grown grapes in Penedes for generations but until 2006 all production was sold on to the big Cava houses in the region. Ramon initially struck out on his own by producing a range of organic grower Cavas from his family vineyards before going fully natural in 2016 - pure grape juice from all indigenous varieties, wild fermented and bottled without any added sulphur, other additions or filtration.

Layers of rustic bramble fruit and intense minerality with a level of  finesse that only Christian can bring. A real treat, extremely refined and classic. Very refreshing body and a great supporting acidity. Light but complex - just pure fun.

The vines (100% Pinot Noir) for this wine are 40 years old and hand-harvested before being de-stemmed and crushed by foot. The juice ferments in two large barrels with indigenous yeast and no racking. It spends one year ageing in a barrel and is bottled without fining or filtering and no addition of sulphur.

Christian cultivates 10 hectares of old vines in the Neusiedlersee region. This area of Burgenland has a unique microclimate due to the moderating influence of the huge lake Neusiedl. Christian has a very hands-off approach in his vineyards, preferring to let nature take its course. His wild-looking parcels are instantly recognisable – overgrown with cover crops that both preserve biodiversity in the vineyards and force the vines to bury their roots deep into the soils in search of nutrients.

Biodynamic Austrian wine from Gut Oggau, rich and elegant. Atanasius is made very simply in stainless steel with natural yeast to produce a stunning rich yet smooth wine with Burgundy like finesse. Gut Oggau is a 14-hectare Austrian wine estate located in the province of Burgenland by the Lake Neusiedl. The estate is run by Eduard Tscheppe and his wife Stephanie. The individual personalities of the wine are expressed in the faces on the labels created by Jung von Matt (German designer) and brought together in the Gut Oggau family tree. A unique and fascinating way of describing the wines, they taste every bit as intriguing as the labels suggest.

Family tree: "Wiltrude's and Joshuari's son. Like his sister Theodora, he has a very affectionate and easy-going nature that is typical of the inhabitants of the Burgenland. An instant classic from Claus Preisinger. This Austrian Zweigelt and St. Laurent blend is best served slightly chilled, with a loaded palate of blackberry and a touch of spice. Its tannins are soft enough that it could easily be enjoyed with or without food. Stunner.
The old school label and bottle shape pay homage to vintage lemonade bottles of the 1920s. Puszta, which translates to “prairie” or “plains” in Hungarian, harkens back to when the vineyards used for this wine were still part of Hungary. And Libre, Spanish for “free”, is exactly how you should feel when sipping this wine.

Claus Preisinger has been working biodynamically near the shores of Lake Neusiedlersee in Burgenland for over a decade and now farms nineteen hectares over some sixty parcels, producing a staggering number of cuvees each year.

The name ‘Enlèvement Demandé’ means ‘Removal Requested’, and the label is a copy of the sticker slapped on badly parked cars in Paris to signal that they should be towed away. That was exactly what happened to the rule-breaking Nicolas Réau while he was trying to decide what to call his new wine.
This rebellious Loire-based winemaker was a jazz and blues pianist before making a dramatic career change that took him into the world of wine. Married to a French wine writer and fierce proponent of the natural wine movement called Sylvie Augereau, Nicolas Réau is building quite the reputation for himself, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Marcel Lapierre and Yvon Métras.

Bold, classic Malbec from Mendoza, with subtle hints of oak and vanilla, as well as some spice and dark currants. The darker fruit flavours still maintain a delicious freshness though, and the natural methods of production are an added bonus.

The grapes are manually harvested, mostly de-stemmed (with 7-10% whole bunch), then fermented in stainless vats with maceration on skins for twenty days. They use native yeasts during fermentation, and the wine is matured in small used barrels for 12 months. No fining, a light filtration and a small amount of sulphur added.

This is a family owned vineyard where, after finishing his studies in France and working on several harvests around the world, Lucas decided to start his own project back home. Using only his favourite plots, he wanted to reflect the terroir as much as possible in the wines by avoiding over manipulation in the vineyard and in the cellar. The vineyard is located at 890m elevation, with a continental, dry climate. Ugarteche, the province within Mendoza, is known for very cold nights and very warm days.
